WORKSHOP ON CLINICAL PROTEOMICS June 24 - 26, 2013 Organized by Department of ProteomicsDr. G. Venkataswamy Eye Research Institute
Aravind Medical Research Foundation
Madurai Sponsored by Department of Biotechnology (Govt. of India)
About the Workshop This workshop on clinical proteomics, will bring together clinician scientists as well as basic science experts working on specific areas of proteomics, who would be sharing their experience on various approaches to address the research questions underlying the clinical issues such as: early detection/diagnosis of disease; prediction of how a disease will progress over time and how a patient will respond to a given treatment; identification of novel targets for therapeutic intervention. The outcome of such research approaches will facilitate the translation of basic research into clinical applications, for the benefit of the patient. Specific
Theme of this Workshop This workshop will comprise two parts: i. Lectures on basic principles, concept, design of experiments, sample preparation, etc. while working with clinical samples. ii. Hands-on sessions for performing gel based comparative and quantitative proteomics (2D PAGE/2D DIGE. Mass spectrometry (NanoLC-MS/MS) will also form part of the workshop.
Participants Basic science research scholars, clinician scientists from national institutes and universities, who are currently working in proteomics, as well as beginners who would be starting their proteomics research, are eligible to apply. The number of participants will be restricted to 20.
